NZDN 2024: Day 8 & 9 – Baby number 2

The last two day’s have been way too busy, that’s why again a combined blog post. So our second kid has successfully entered the world, he’s still in the hospital for over a week but after that his programming lessons will start, I was thinking to start off by teaching him C++ to keep things easy hahah.

All jokes aside, I’m so happy that nothing went wrong (except for the blade during the C-section touching the head of the baby ^^”). Our last kid took way too long, making him have a lot of liquid in his lungs together with some other issues such as being too weak and having to go to a different hospital. This time things went a lot smoother. ^^

Progress on GoZen

Day 8 was mostly spent in the hospital, from early morning till afternoon. Because of this the amount of work I could get done was impacted drastically. I did what I could, which was looking up info I need for certain parts of the editor, and also look up stuff for eventually starting a fund-raiser so I can keep going with GoZen without financial worries for some time.

Day 9 was also a lot of back and forth, I wanted to get most preparations ready for when the baby comes so that’s one less worry on my mind. Made the baby bed, went to the hospital, spend time with my kid, went shopping with my kid … As for progress on GoZen, I was able to get work done to the actual project itself but I’ll probably need to create a test space to test the audio encoding and to encode an entire video WITH audio! I would like to do this during a live-stream, but not certain if I’ll be concentrated enough to get things working during one stream.

Tomorrow’s plans

Get the audio exporting working from inside Godot, I know how to do it, but I haven’t tried it yet so I should get that working first. Other then that, I’ll start working more on the UI of GoZen to get that all sorted out. There is still so much to do and I knew time was going to be an issue around the birth of our second kid, but I’m glad that I am able to manage my stress quite well.

Honestly I thought stress would be more of an issue during this period but my brain got into a different mode I guess, as suddenly planning between getting work done, taking care of my kid, housekeeping, cooking, … it all feels like it’s going a lot more smoothly and I am finding a nice balance right now. I do wish that I could get more work done though, but even though I’m slightly behind on schedule, things seem to be going well right now (except getting the Windows version to work properly).

A big thanks again to all my Ko-fi supporters! I’ll say it every single time, you all make this all work out and make it possible for me to work on this Video Editor. ^^
